Sticking to New Year's Resolutions
The start of the new year seems to be when so many people set out to make a change, improve some area of their life, or beat a goal from the previous year. A new year can feel like a fresh start. A time to take the opportunity to eliminate bad habits and establish new routines that will help you grow physically, emotionally, socially, or intellectually.
Unfortunately, there tends to be something that inevitably "get's in the way." Something that causes you to stop the feeling of a "new year - new you." We have come up with a few ways to help you stick to reaching for the stars and accomplishing more than you could ever have imagined in 2018.
Keep It Real One thing that will set you back faster than you started is going for something that is highly unlikely you'll be able to attain given the circumstances. "I want to lose 50 lbs before my class reunion in 2 months." Let's be honest, that is a tad extreme for the body. "I want to get where I am consistently loosing lbs each week with my well planned diet and exercise routine. Seeing a difference in how I feel and my clothes fit in 2 months is my goal!"
Plan, Plan, Plan....and Plan Some More This is a big one. If you start working toward a goal without any type of plan in place, you might quickly find yourself giving up any time you face any sort of obstacle, difficulty, or resistance. Write down your goals!!! See them, believe in them. Even write down things that might get in your way. By knowing exactly what you want to accomplish and the difficulties you might face, you'll be better prepared to stick to your resolution and overcome potential struggles. Keep it real, plan through the entire year, and mark off each step as you go.
