Staying Healthy in Between Chiropractic Adjustments

When you visit Dr. Davis at the chiropractor, how do you feel afterwards? Great, right? There's nothing like getting a good adjustment, relaxing with some stim therapy, and feeling aligned and put together! Unfortunately, after a few weeks, or even days, we might start to feel misaligned again. While the best way to make sure you're feeling your best and your body is working how it's supposed to is with regular wellness adjustments, there are some things you can do in between those adjustments to give you that just adjusted feeling!

Exercise

Keeping your body moving will help it work its best! You don't have to hit the gym 7 days a week - even a walk in the evenings is a great way to get your body and muscles moving! Sitting for long periods of time is not good on your body and for obvious reasons, right? So when you're starting to feel stiff, get up and move! A quick walk during your break time is a great way to make sure you're getting enough movement in the day.

Wear the right shoes

Okay, so we know that sometimes a great pair of shoes can make an outfit. But if you're going to be on your feet a lot, those cute heels or your flip flops won't be the best for your feet or your entire body. Our feet carry our bodies all. day. long. So really, we should be giving them some great support. Make sure you're wearing a shoe that is comfortable and has good support.

Eat healthy

This one may sound strange. How is eating healthy going to make your back feel better? So much of what we eat affects how we feel. The foods you eat can help with inflammation, which can reduce joint pain! Also, eating healthy in general makes us feel so much better, so why wouldn't we want to do that? Sure, splurge once in a while, but also make sure to get plenty of those fruits and veggies! And don't forget to drink lots of water!!

Get to bed

A good night's sleep is so important. When we're well rested, we perform so much better during the day. Plus, our bodies feel great too. We're able to have enough energy to do things like exercise and cook a great, healthy meal instead of ordering take out.

Stretch

Stretching is a great way to start the day! Or great to do any time you're feeling pain or stiffness. It will help release tension in muscles and when you stay flexible, you're less likely to injure yourself working out, working, lifting heavy objects, or doing household chores. If you're not sure what kind of stretches would be helpful for you, ask Dr. Davis! He can recommend some stretches that will keep you flexible and healthy in between adjustments!

There are plenty of things you can do to stay healthy in between your adjustments, but if it's time to come in, give us a call at 712-560-8913 or book online! And don't forget - a great way to make sure you stay feeling great, is to keep up with your treatment plan! :)
