Women's Health and Menopause

Ladies, this one is for you. Because from growing up and maturing, to maybe having babies, and then getting older, a woman's body goes through a lot! It can be hard to keep up with everything that's going on, and well, not every change is very pleasant. Like menopause. Maybe some of you are thinking "been there, done that!" Or maybe it's something you're currently experiencing or going to be experiencing very soon.

If you watched Dr. Davis' most recent video on Facebook, (if you missed it, check it out below!) then you know that menopause happens to every woman, usually over the age of 45. It's treatable, but not curable so it's something every woman will go through at some point in their lives.

There are some common symptoms that go along with menopause like hot flashes, night sweats, and flushing. Unfortunately, when our bodies stop producing estrogen, we're at a higher risk for heart disease. But, there is some good news! :) There are things we can do to help with those symptoms and make us feel better as we age.

One big thing we can do is to pay attention to what we eat. Filling up on certain vitamins and nutrients can help you feel your best! Dr. Davis mentioned vitamin D (eggs, legumes), calcium (kale, broccoli, cabbage), omega 3's (salmon, tilapia, olive oil), vitamin B12 (beef, sardines, tuna), and folate B9 (squash, berries, nuts.)

Jamie at Next to Nature also has a line of women's supplements to go along with taking care of your body through life changes. She'll recommend a multi, a probiotic, and herbs. She can get you on a regime to reduce hot flashes and have more energy. You can get so many great products and advice from Jamie at Next to Nature.

Finally, you can keep up with your chiropractic adjustments. No matter what symptoms you're experiencing, an aligned spine will make your body work together the way it should. An adjustment will remove any interference between nerves. It can also help you sleep better - which is important at all stages of life!

We know it can be a stressful time going through so many changes and unknowns. But, we'd love to help this time go a little smoother! Schedule an appointment today to see Dr. Davis!
