Treating the Whole Body with Chiropractic Care

If there is one thing we love to share, it's the benefits of getting your regular adjustment. Your 15 minutes once a month with our Doc can change the trajectory of your life in many ways. Let's go over a few key reasons why we believe chiropractic care is for just about anyone, at any age!

The primary purpose of chiropractic care is to realign the vertebrae in your spine to reduce pressure on the nerves and promote a healthy nervous system. Let's break it down...

Reduced inflammation: Inflammation is tied to many types of chronic pain, cancers, and issues inside or on the body. Chiropractic care reduces inflammation to improve your quality of life. When the spine and other joints are properly aligned, and your nerves function as they should, your body’s biomechanics return to normal. This stops the production of neuropeptides, which can help reduce inflammation.

Enhanced flexibility & mobility: Tight muscles restrict your movement. Regular chiropractic care helps loosen them up so you can perform your daily activities with ease.

Boosted athletic performance: With less pain, reduced inflammation, and improved flexibility, your athletic performance gets a boost. You are also less likely to suffer a sports injury when you receive preventive chiropractic adjustments. Dr. Davis sees many athletes from middle school to collegiate level and the amateur golfer. ;)

Lower blood pressure: Chiropractic adjustments targeting the cervical spine, or neck, can be just as effective at lowering blood pressure as taking blood pressure medication. Studies have shown with results supporting the hypothesis that blood pressure is reduced following chiropractic treatment. Physiological stress on the spine can interfere with the function of the central nervous system. This puts stress on the autonomic nervous system, which regulates body functions, including your heart and respiratory rates. When the autonomic nervous system isn't working properly, it can cause an increase in your blood pressure.

Increased blood flow to the brain: A properly aligned spine increases circulation throughout the body, including the brain. This can provide much-needed relief for people with neurological conditions such as epilepsy and multiple sclerosis. A chiropractic adjustment improves the function of your brain by removing interference of your nervous system caused by vertebral subluxation. Chiropractic helps to bring your body back from a dominant sympathetic state (where the body is immunosuppressive) to a balanced ground between sympathetic and para-sympathetic.

Boosted immunity: Your immune system is responsible for fighting off illnesses and infections. Even a slightly misaligned spine could interrupt immune function, a problem easily remedied by a chiropractic adjustment. Your body is always adapting, resilient and is designed to be able to do it naturally. It does require a proactive, healthy lifestyle and surrounding ourselves with good hygiene, but we cannot deny the brain’s ability to recognize and fight off any bugs that are going around. Your regular adjustment aids in brain function and immune function.

Reduced allergy symptoms: Allergies are the result of an exaggerated immune response. The underlying cause may be a misaligned spine interfering with signals from the brain. Chiropractors are trained to help relieve lymphatic blockage and sinus pressure, often a result of allergen exposure.

Improved digestion: Problems with the nervous system in your thoracic spine, or middle back, can lead to acid reflux, gas, and heartburn. Regular chiropractic care can realign the vertebrae in this area, which may ease stomach issues.

Maximized lung function: Chronic back pain may reduce lung capacity. Treat your ailment with spinal adjustments, and soon you’ll be breathing deeply without pain.

Healthier pregnancies: Chiropractic care has been shown to ease pregnancy pain, alleviate symptoms of morning sickness, and make labor and delivery easier. As your body, ligaments, and hips make room for baby, keeping the pressure from your psoas and surrounding areas are key for keeping baby in optimal birthing positions. Adjustments and muscle work help with this.

Improved balance: Coordination and balance tend to suffer the older you get. Keeping your nervous system in good shape with routine chiropractor visits can help improve your balance as you age and your body makes those life changes.

Sleep more soundly: Chronic pain and muscle tension from a misaligned spine can wreak havoc on your sleep patterns. Realign your spine, and you’ll enjoy a more peaceful snooze fest. Poor sleep can be from poor digestion, neck strain, or back discomfort, all of which chiropractic care can address.
