Bone Broth Recipe and Benefits

Jamie has whipped up a batch of organic beef bone broth and wanted to share her recipe!

Bone broth is one the most healing and nutritional foods you can consume. With nutrients like collagen and gelatin, bone broth can boost skin health, improve joint function, and heal and protect your stomach.

If you can’t always make this up yourself, be sure to buy the organic kind at the store. It is by no means the same, but you can still get a good amount of benefits.

Here we go with what you will need:

(When in doubt, chose organic.)

Large crockpot (the amount of ingredients you use varies of the size of your pot) 2-3 pounds of free range beef bones or free range chicken feet/legs/necks 2-3 celery stalks, chopped 1-2 cup carrots, chopped 1 large onion sliced in quarters 5 garlic cloves, chopped, or 2 tablespoon granulated garlic 1 teaspoon Himalayan salt 3 tablespoons organic apple cider vinegar 1-2 tablespoons of thyme 1-2 tablespoons of rosemary

1-2 tablespoons basil leaves

1 tablespoon ground ginger

10-14 cups distilled water 8 ounce mason jars for storage

Here’s how to let it cook:

Place all ingredients in cooker. Add water. Simmer for at least 24 hours, up to 48. The longer the better! Occasionally check for fat to be skimmed from water. Remove heat and allow to slightly cool. Discard solids from pot with spoon and strainer. Let broth cool to room temperature, place in covered container, until you are ready to drink up or cook with!

Use within a week for freeze up to 3 months.

A fun little addition… get about 4 cups of the broth in a bowl, add 1 can of real, organic coconut milk. Put in mason jars for a delish warm drink!
